Frances Brennan

Frances Brennan trained in a joint honours degree in Fine Art and Metal work at Camberwell. Since concentrating on the metalwork her career has blossomed to the extent that she was selected as one of the top eight finalists in the prestigious Jerwood Applied Arts Prize in 2005.

She is attracted to metal in its most unsophisticated forms such as building materials, scrap yards, piles of nuts and bolts. Yet her work using experimental techniques often produces the appearance of softness and a light tactile result.

Her work challenges the traditional boundaries of metalwork in relation to functionality and she creates beautiful contemplative sculptural objects.
