Sonia Crivello

After graduating in Textiles and Business Studies, Sonia Crivello worked for several years at the well-known antique carpet gallery, Vigo, and The Contemporary Textile Gallery in central London. While taking a career break to raise two children she was seeking a way to become an agent for applied and visual artists. In 2002, she set up Four Square Fine Arts in order to represent contemporary artists from the UK, and more recently from USA and Europe. Her early experience in the world of textiles is reflected in the artists she represents, being particularly drawn to abstract work and interesting mixed media. She now acts as an agent for around twenty artists by putting on curated exhibitions in London, attending major art fairs and presenting work on appointments to corporate and private clients.

In order to create new audiences for the main artists she represents, she conceived the innovative Four Square Artist Films project – the purpose being to create a series of artist portraits which would inform the public about the artist’s creative processes in a sensitive and intelligent way.

In addition she is developing the Four Square Education Programme with her husband, Marco Crivello, which includes working with 14-16 year olds as part of the new Creative and Media Arts Diploma, organizing artists’ talks and creative workshops.

Sonia Crivello is a member of Arts and Business, Arts Marketing Association, Visual Arts & Galleries Association, and the Federation of Small Businesses. She has recently been elected a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
